Former Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq wants to retire in a honourable manner after playing Test cricket for some more time.
“I am not going to play for long but I do want to play a few more Tests as I think I can still contribute to Pakistan cricket,” Inzamam said at a function where he was feted for his contribution to the game.
PCB is expected to award central contracts to national players and sources have indicated that Inzamam may not get one. But the burly middle-order batsman thinks he could still make a contribution despite his age.
“I don’t understand why they (selectors) keep on saying things about my form and fitness. Obviously if I am not fit or not in form I myself will not make myself available for selection,” Inzamam said.

Former Bangladesh and Sri Lanka coach Dav Whatmore will be interviewed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday,June 21 as the Australian prepares to arrive in Pakistan on Wednesday.
The PCB has already interviewed two other Australians in Richard Done and Geoff Lawson and is planning to announce the new coach to succeed the late Bob Woolmer in July.
A potential candidate, Whatmore, was initially favoured by PCB for the top job until he seemed interested in the India coaching job.
However, for some strange and unknown reasons the Indian authorities seemed to snub Whatmore, who after the India-Bangladesh series was tipped to be the favourite to succeed Greg Chappell at the helm and his appointment was said to be a mere formality.
In the meanwhile, the PCB is tight-lipped over the coach issue and hasn’t committed on the two interviews preceding Whatmore’s.
However, board sources have said Lawson and Done have been impressive and were invited because of their excellent qualifications and not on the basis of their past performances.

The 15-member Indian cricket team, led by skipper Rahul Dravid, today flew in here to play a three-match one-day international series against South Africa in Ireland.
The team, accompanied by cricket manager Chandu Borde, will begin its 80-day tour of the United Kingdom by playing the first match of the off-shore series against South Africa at Stormont on June 26.
The Indians are scheduled to play a warm-up match against Ireland here on Saturday.
After the series, India will travel to Scotland to take on Pakistan in a one-off ODI clash at Glasgow on July 3, the proceeds of which would go to the Prince Charles Charitable Trust.
The players would then move to England to take on the hosts in a three-Test series, which would be followed by seven one-dayers.
